IBM was originally called C-T-R (Computing- Tabulating- Recording Company). C-T-R was started in the late 1911. C-T-R was made up of three companies. The companies included the Tabulating Machine Co., the Computing Scale of America Co., and International Time Recording Co. These companies produced tabulating machines, computer scales, and time recorders, also they started sometime between 1885 and 1908. In 1924 the C-T-R companies agreed that since their activities were growing and extending they should change their name to something that better described what they were doing. Thus International Business Machines Corporation (IBM) was born.

So, you are probably wondering what IBM does right? Well, "in the beginning of WWII the US Government incorporated all IBM-facilities in the production of equipment for war machines." In 1944, after six years working on it, the Mark I, the Automatic Sequence Controlled Calculator was completed by IBM. "This was the first their first step on the path of making computers." In 2003 IBM released the iSeries 890, which is third in the eServer iSeries. The iSeries 890 is one of the companys most powerful servers. As you can see, IBM creates computers and computer equipment.

IBM relates to the computer revolution because their invention the Mark I was the first computers ever created. Also their hundreds of thousands of US patents have made computers more mainstream in the world.
